It's Earth Day!  As a mom to two kids and a former Californian, you can probably guess that I grew up with a love for our earth.  I witnessed first-hand how climate change altered the California weather -- often rushing home from work due to wildfires, keeping my kids indoors due to unsafe air, and making considerations to drive only hybrid vehicles.

Eventually, as I became more environmentally conscious, I looked to my own garment consumption and realized that I was spending so much money on fast fashion that was made so cheaply.  I was cycling out clothing every few months and was never happy with the quality.  Items would fall apart.  Growing up, my mom took me to buy raw materials for all my Pakistani outfits, so I was well aware what it took to make good products -- she would open the inside and examine the seams.  It was obviously better to have garments that laster than fell apart -- this helped our environmental sustainability and led to less garments in landfills.

As a young adult, I began to love renting my clothes.  I used Rent the Runway to cycle out garments monthly. (PS use my promo code RTRFAM582BB3C to save 40% off 2 months of RTR’s 8, 12, or 16 item memberships.).  Once I had children, I wanted to be thoughtful about the clothing they wore as well!

When I started Jasmine + Marigold, I was constantly on the hunt for good materials that could be handed down.

As a business owner and a Muslim one at that -- I just knew that I'd be held accountable for garment waste.  It is a huge problem in fashion and I was afraid to be asked about my contribution.  I have iterated and grown my brand and eventually learned about bamboo fibers and how not all bamboo is loomed equally.  The manufacturer that we use now has STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified fibers.  OEKO-TEX is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety.  Since you will be sleeping in our PJs, wearing them for arguably the longest stretch of the day, it’s crucial to invest in pajamas that poses no threat to your and your family's health
