Here’s How to (Sort of) Survive the Clock Change"

November 01, 2024 2 min read

This weekend marks the annual tradition of "Fall Back," where we gain an extra hour of sleep—ha! If only our kids got the memo! We know that adjusting to the time change can feel like wrangling an army of overly-energetic squirrels, but fear not!

We’ve got some fun and helpful tips to ease the transition for both you and your little ones.

1. Start the Shift Early Gradually adjust your kiddo’s bedtime by 15 minutes a night leading up to Sunday. This makes the time shift feel less like a sudden "Wait, what just happened?" moment. Pro tip: Encourage cozy evenings in with Jasmine + Marigold’s softest bamboo pajamas—they’re the perfect excuse for an earlier (and comfier) bedtime!

2. Get the Energy Out Early Burn off that extra energy by planning a fun morning activity on Saturday, whether it’s a playdate at the park or a living room dance party. After all, we want those little bundles of joy (and boundless energy) to actually enjoy the extra hour of sleep!

3. Hide the Clocks (Sort of) If your kids are at that age where they can read a clock but don’t follow its rules, consider turning them back Saturday night. It’s a parenting hack to give yourself an extra hour of calm Sunday morning. Just maybe hide your own clocks for a bit so you can play along. 😉

4. Embrace the Cozy Vibes Use the time change as an excuse to slow down and enjoy a cozy family evening. Bring on the hot cocoa, snuggle up in those ultra-soft Jasmine + Marigold pajamas, and indulge in a family movie night! The kids get relaxed, and hey, you’ve earned a break.

5. Be Kind to Yourself Listen, we all know that "extra hour" doesn’t mean a peaceful sleep-in. Set your expectations low (really low), and focus on survival mode with plenty of coffee. Or, better yet, lounge in your J+M robe and joggers for some well-deserved rest whenever you can sneak it in! Good luck, and may your household adjust to the time change as smoothly as possible (wishful thinking, we know).

If all else fails, just remember: the sun will set at 4:30 pm, and bedtime will come soon enough! Wishing you cozy nights and well-rested mornings, The Jasmine + Marigold Team 💫
